BET Honors 2012 Red Carpet Chatter and Arrival Photos

The BET Honors 2012 red carpet oozed with black star power from beginning to end.  Colon Powell, Terrence Howard, Jill Scott, Kelly Rowland, and more gracing the presence of major media outlets, showing off their designer threads and expressing how happy were to be apart of such a prestigious event.

Michelle Williams was one of the first celebs to make her way shown the carpet, stopping for paparazzi first before making her way to speak with the press. Dressed in Mark Bower, Michelle expressed her excitement in seeing all of the honorees and performances.

“I didn’t know Kelly [Rowland] was performing [tonight],” Michelle admitted about her former Destiny’s Child groupmate, “but we were all together this week and she told me. I was already coming so it made my trip more exciting to see her perform.”

Kelly Rowland, who chosen as one of the performers to honor Mariah Carey, expressed her nerves on performing for one of her inspirations, “I’m so excited I mean to have looked at her to admire her for so long that I’m almost in tears on the stage thinking I’m singing to her. I’m not even looking at her, I’m looking at her forehead because I know if I look at her I’ll cry.”

When asked how former Destiny’s Child group mate Beyonce was doing after the birth of her first child Blue Ivy with hubby rapper Jay Z, “she’s fabulous.” Michelle revealed that they had all been together earlier in the week and how the reality of her having a child is setting in. “She was like ‘can ya’ll believe it? I was the anti! No children for me’ and she was the first one!” The birth of Blue Ivy may have inspired Michelle a little bit, but she says her ring finger has got to be a little heavier before anything like that happens.

Kelly Rowland was pretty tightlipped on details of the latest addition for the Knowles-Carter family, but she did say that Beyonce was born to be a mother and they’re all doing wonderful.

Host of the night Gabrielle Union stated “I’m a huge Mariah Carey fan, I’m excited to see her and I’m excited to see Nick [Cannon] because I know he’s been sick.”

Gabrielle Union shared that she wasn’t super nervous about hosting for the fifth year in a row, “For me this is a FUBU experience, for us by us. So it’s like being with your family, there’s a comfort level that you don’t have at other award shows.” She continued that her concern for hosting was that her jokes would go over well ,”somethings I find hilarious get crickets.”

Fun Fact: Gabrielle Union’s secret to perfect skin? Water and Nutrogena. “I drink a gallon of water a day!”
