After almost two months since rapper Heavy D’s unexpected passing at his home in LA on November 9, 2011, there is finally an official cause of death: pulmonary embolisms (blood clot(s) located in leg(s)). It has been reported that the embolism may have formed due to “deep leg thrombosis” which typically comes with flying for long periods of time.
Pulmonary embolism is usually caused by a blood clot formed in the leg that eventually travels up to the lung, stopping blood flow. In most cases, the clots formed aren’t deadly, but officials from L.A. County Coroner’s Office also told TMZ that the rapper suffered from heart disease and that may have been a contributing factor to his death as well.
Heavy D had just returned to his home from Wales a few days shy of his death.
