Kevin Hart “Laughs At His Pain” in DC!

Washington, D.C. was all a-buzz Friday night because actor/comedian Kevin Hart was live in the District!  Hart performed nearly an hour long stand-up routine of new material, “Laugh At My Pain.”  It was a huge success, selling out both showtimes at D.A.R Constitution Hall.

Soon after the first show ended,  his assistant  road manager Harry took me backstage to meet Kevin.  Now, I normally don’t get nervous when meeting celebrities, but I was nervous meeting Kevin Hart for the first time! Why? Not sure, but my hands were shaking and my mind went blank.

Friends, family, and laughter filled his dressing room. I felt like such a fan, but Kevin’s friendly, down-to-earth demeanor and kind words quickly assured me that there was no reason to be nervous.  After pictures were taken, it was time to claim my seat for the next show.  I grabbed my coat, my newly purchased t-shirts (“Say It With Your CHEST!” and “Alright, Alright, Alriiiiiight!“), a freshly autographed copy of Kevin’s latest DVD, “Seriously Funny,” and made my way to my seat.

The second show was just as hilarious as the first. Will “Spank” Horton hosted the show, introducing Na’im Lynn as the first comedian up to the mic, and Cory Holcom after.  Kevin Hart made a grand entrance, complete with special effects and video of his journey from backstage to the spotlight, bringing the crowd to their feet.

Kevin Hart’s performance was amazing.  His delivery was impeccable, and facial expressions hilarious as he shared comical real life experiences with the audience.   After the show wrapped, I made my way thru the huuuuuge crowd to leave the venue.  On my way out, someone says to me “Hey Rishele, hot shoes!”

I smiled and thank them for the compliment, but that triggered a thought. “Oh crap, where are my comfy shoes?”
I’d brought them with me just incase my feet started fussin’ at me for wearing 4 inch heels.  At that point, I realized I must’ve left them in Kevin Hart’s dressing room!  Yikes!  Feeling a little embarrassed, but also amused,  I started to go back and retrieve them, but it was far too crowded.  So I proceeded to go home, but I can only imagine what was said when my Wal-Mart brand zebra flats were discovered.  So, um Kevin….if you happened to see my shoes, let a sistah know.

If Kevin Hart is coming to your area soon, I strongly advise you to be in the building.  Doesn’t matter where you sit, nosebleed section or behind a pillar, you must be present.  It’s a great show that you surely wouldn’t want to miss!
